ABSORB'ENT, adjective Imbibing; swallowing.

ABSORB'ENT, noun In anatomy, a vessel which imbibes, as the lacteals, lymphatics, and inhaling arteries. In medicine, a testaceous powder, or other substance, which imbibes the humors of the body, as chalk or magnesia.
