UP'LAND, noun [up and land.] High land; ground elevated above the meadows and intervals which lie on the banks of rivers, near the sea, or between hills; land which is generally dry. It is opposed to meadow, march, swamp, interval, etc. Uplands are particularly valuable as affording pasture for sheep.
UP'LAND, adjective
1. Higher in situation; being on upland; as upland inhabitants.
2. Pertaining to uplands; as upland pasturage.
